Bubble Bath for Babies 9 Months +

Bubble Bath for Babies 9 Months +

1. We stopped using baby tub by the time our girl was 9 months old. Some parents feel comfortable giving up baby tub earlier some later, it does not matter what other parents do, you must feel comfortable and safe when your baby uses regular tub, it is up to you to decide when is the right time.
2. I use bubble bath to create playful atmosphere. My favorite bubble bath product is Soothing Vapor by Johnson's Baby, eucalyptus smells great and helps my baby to relax and get ready for bed.
3. I use baby soap to clean private areas only. I do not think she gets really dirty during the day, so I do not cover her in baby soap. Soaking in a bubble bath does the cleaning for us. Private parts, especially for a girl, need extra cleaning attention.

Baby furniture that you can live without.

My list of furniture pieces that both mother and baby can survive without.

Less furniture = greener planet = thicker wallets:

1. Rocker. Rockers are expansive and majority of them are ugly looking and take lots of space. We chose the most affordable rocker option and I am glad we did. I used a rocker few times a week for about 8 months. That's it. I like to feed on a bad, on a sofa or in a regular living room chair. If you have space and money and you truly believe you will be using your rocker you should get one. I am glad we had one, but at the same time I know I could have survive without it. For parents that cannot afford to lose so much space or money do not worry you will be fine for as long as you have a bad, living room chair or a sofa. Our daughter did not really fell asleep in a rocker. She liked to be bounces on  the bed, so do not full yourself if you think that you will be rocking your baby to sleep. Plus my back and legs were killing me after sitting in a rocker for more than 45 minutes.

How much furniture does you baby really need?

Sleeping baby in a crib

Minimalism is my approach to life when it comes to stuff. Your baby does not need lots of furniture. It is best if baby's room or a room where baby sleeps and plays in will have lots of open space for her to crawl and walk around. Here is my list of furniture that you baby really needs:

Must have items:

1. Crib. I highly recommend buying a covertable crib. It will cost a little more but it will last for a very long time. Especially it will work for parents that own their own place. For parents that are renting and do not want to spend an extra $100 on a convertible crib an IKEA crib is great ($70.00 - $120.00). I am not able to recommend an IKEA crib because we never used it, but my friends and many parents online as well as ConsumerReports.com recommend IKEA cribs. I personalty recommend DaVinci Emily 4 in 1 Convertible Crib ($199.00) The look of the crib is classic and unfortunately they do not carry a contemporary look, but the crib is great and it works for us!

Minerals your baby needs

Vitamin E and C

Your baby needs the best of the best! I believe in fresh, home-made meals for your whole family. I believe your baby must eat: fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and bread.

1. Calcium helps with develop stronger bones, teeth, nerves and muscles. Drink milk, eat cheese, butter and yogurt.
2. Iron is good for red blood cells, muscle function, white blood cells and your baby's immune system. Great source of iron is lean red meat, fish, egg yolks, nuts, wholewheat and green leafy vegetables.
3. Magnesium if good for converting energy from foods, cell repair, building strong bones, teeth and muscles. Magnesium also helps to regulate body temperature. Magnesium can be found in: wholegrains, nuts and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamins your baby needs

Your baby needs the best of the best! I believe in fresh, home-made meals for your whole family. I believe your baby must eat: fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and bread.

1. Vitamin A great for eyesight. Can be found in carrots, green leafy vegetables like spinach, broccoli and cabbage.
2. B1 is great for muscle growth, heart, and nervous system. Can be found in egg yolk, red meat and nuts (I would not recommend giving your baby nuts until she is at least 12 months old.)
3. Vitamin B2 is great for skin, nails, hair, eyesight and the breakdown of protein and fat. Products such as milk, cheese, fish and green leafy vegetables contain lost of vitamin B2.

Dear mamas, lose your UGGs.

There are two things that irritate me the most: parents (nannies) who are taking their kids to the playground pass noon and moms that take their babies for a walk and look like they just rolled out of bed. This post is about mamas that ignore or choose to ignore how they look. Yes, you a mother now, but you are still a woman, beautiful and stronger than ever! Please, please, please, please and please I am begging you to look good. Looking good does not mean you have be back in size 6 and have a hair style every time you go out, but looking neat, clean and nice I believe is a must for every woman. Show yourself and the world that you a hot mama! Believe it or not but being called a MILF is your best complement now :)

The importance of egg yolk in your baby's diet.

importance of egg yolk in baby's diet

Egg yolk is a must give food for your baby, here is why:

1. One egg yolk contains about 60 calories. Your baby needs foods that are high in calories, she is growing every minute.
2. Egg yolk contains protein, cholesterol (0.6 grams) carbohydrates, and approximately 4.5 grams of total fat.
3. Contains vitamins: A, B, B6,  D and E. Please note that egg yolk if one of very few foods that naturally contains vitamin D.

Interlock Foam Floor Mats by We sell Mats

Positives:

1. Great color selection: brown, black, red, multicolored, etc. You can also purchase mats with letters and numbers on them.
2. Easy to clean. I vaccume and then wipe them clean with soap and water or if I am feeling lazy I grab a baby wipe.
3. It will tell you when its dirty. Dusts, crumbs, hair and other things are very visible on foam mats. Carpets collect dust, unless your clean your carpets every day and clean them well, carpets are always dusty. Since dirt is visible on foam mats your baby will never play on a dirty surface.

No socks or shoes until 12 M

The best winter socks for babies, toddlers and kids

Your baby does not need socks until she starts walking. Here is why:

1. Shoes and socks are a pain to put on.
2. Your baby does not need them.
3. Let your baby feel comfortable rather than tying her foot in a shoe.
4. Only real wool, hand-made socks make your baby's feet warm, everything else is cute and artificial.

Household Baby Toys

Free Household Baby toys

List of the best baby toys that you already have you just did not know about:

1. Pillow. Our daughter goes bananas playing with a pillow on our bed. She wrastles it, chews on it, kicks it and rolls all over the bed. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your baby, she will get very excited and will forget about the edges and might roll off the bed
2. Roll of toilet paper. She just keeps rolling and rolling the paper and once she is done with starts tearing it into small pieces. Your baby will be very happy with a simple roll of toilet paper.
3. Milk container. By the way our recycling bin is one of the most visited places in the apartment.
4. Any kind of box. Small box, large box, midium box, plastic box, paper box, wooden box you name it! They love them all!
5. Disposible water/coffee/tea cup.
6. Disposablle lid. You want to have a nice chat with your girlfriend over a coffee in Starbucks? No worries, plastic water cups, coffee lids or a straw will keep you baby entertained.
7. Any kind of cream container: from baby lotions container to chopsticks!
8. Keys. Of course!
9. Baby spoons. I think every baby likes to chew on silicon and a silicon baby spoon is a great toy!
10. Books or magezines. Magazines work better for us because if she will rip the page out it I won't upset me as much as a ripped page from a book.
11. DVD/Video game cases.
12. Napkin. Similar to toilet paper roll, it just wont keep her busy for as long.
13. Diaper. I remember we gave our daughter a diaper to play with and I was absolutely amazed how fascinated she was!
14. Remote control. We have two remote controls: one that works and one that doesn't. We took the batteries out and made sure that there is nothing that she could swallow. She has her remote control and we have ours.
15. Bag of rice, potatoes, carrots, etc.... Give your baby a well sealed bag of vegetables, rice, pasta or oranges! She will love it!

Here is a very small list of things that will keep your baby busy! Don't waist an opportunity to teach your baby colors, textures and shapes when playing with household objects: "Orange is round, toilet paper roll is white and made from paper, a pillow is soft and square"

ENJOY!

Teething: What you need to know

1. First tooth comes out around 7 months old. We had our lower two teeth come out at the same time.
2. Sings of teething start around 3/4 months when baby starts chewing anything she comes across.
3. There are 20 baby teeth. Teething process will be complete when your baby is 2.5 years old.
4. When your baby is teething her immune system is weaker. Do not blame your baby's fever on teething problems it might be something else. See a doctor.

Baby's First Birthday!

This weekend our daughter had her First Birthday Party!

Here is what I think parents should know about First Birthdays:

1. First birthdays are mainly for parents and not children. Your baby won't understand that everybody gathered to celebrate her birthday.
2. Your baby won't remember how fancy and nice the party was.
3. Ideal place for a birthday party is your house if you live in one. Your baby will feel confident and comfortable in a familiar environment.

Find a good pediatrician

Here is my criteria how to find a good pediatrician:

1. Pediatrics office has to be near your home. I am very lucky to be living in the city, because if there are any concerns regarding baby's health doctor's office is within walking distance. I do not need to worry about getting into the care, finding parking, etc.
2. I prefer a pediatrician who has kids herself.
3. Pediatrics office must have a hot 24/7 calling line.

Chlorine Free Baby Wipes by Seventh Generation

Positives:

1. My baby is not allergic to wipes by Seventh Generation.
2. Affordable. Count of 70 costs around $3.50.

Negatives:

1. Packaging states that wipes are unscented. Well, that's a lie. The smell is very strong and it is extremely unpleasant!
2. Does not come in re-sealable packaging. It comes in a tub, but tub won't fit into your diaper bag.

Baby Shower - Not my Cup of Tea

I think baby showers are extremely difficult to handle for an 8 months old pregnant women. Here is why:

1. It is a stressful event to organize, unless mom-to-be is not the one who organizes it. Will she like it if she is not involved? ...
2. Mom-to-be must smile all the way through the event. Difficult.
3. Mom-to-be has to pretend that she likes all the gift. A lot of people ignore the fact that there is a baby registry and bring whatever they feel is "so cute and adorable" and sometimes not useful at all.

Perfect Baby Sweater

1. The sweater has to be long. When babies sit, crawl or move their backs get exposed, so buy a longer sweater to keep them warm and comfortable.
2. High collar or a hoodie is a must! It will keep your baby's neck and head warm and you will be confident that she will not catch a cold.
3. Neutral color. It has to match all the outfits. Brown, grey, ivory is a good option.

Perfect Gifts for Parents-To-Be

Here is my list of the best and most useful gifts for soon to become parents:

1. Diapers. You can never go wrong with diapers. I would suggest getting Pampers, because they are the best, but either way, any diapers are always appreciated. Size Newborn and size 1 parents will use for the first three months. Baby goes through at least 8 diapers a day, so if you would like to give a two week diaper supply buy a pack of 100+. Do not worry, there can never be too many diapers.

Aquaphor - Healing Ointment

Positives:

1. Aquaphor is the best healing ointment when it comes to treating dry skin! When our baby's skin was dry, I use to cover her in Aquaphor before giving her the bath, because Aquaphor will prevent water from drying her skin. I also massaged her substituting apricot oil with Aquaphor. In 2 to 4 days the dryness was gone.

Breastfeeding: Highlights

1. You have to be in a calm, preferably sound free environment: living room, bedroom, a bench in the park, or a quiet table at the restaurant.
2. Do not search the web, text nor watch a movie. Be with your baby!
3. I would not even recommend talking to anybody either. Listen to your baby, it is a very unique moment that will be in your life for only one year.
