Your baby does not need socks until she starts walking. Here is why:
1. Shoes and socks are a pain to put on.
2. Your baby does not need them.
3. Let your baby feel comfortable rather than tying her foot in a shoe.
4. Only real wool, hand-made socks make your baby's feet warm, everything else is cute and artificial.
5. Some socks, like "Trumpette" brand are very expensive and useless. I would not recommend socks by Trumpette!
5. Some socks, like "Trumpette" brand are very expensive and useless. I would not recommend socks by Trumpette!
6. The best alternative for socks are footed leggings, pants and bodysuits. Easy to put on and comfortable for your baby.
7. Shoes are expensive and are very unnecessary accessory to your baby's wardrobe. Every time I see a 3 months old with shoes on I immediately thing that first of all mom wasted 10 minutes of her time to put socks and shoes on, second baby is not comfortable and third she could have spend that money on diapers.
8. Your baby explores the world by touching and chewing on everything. Let her feel different textures and temperatures with her feet. Let her feet learn!
9. It is best if you let your baby crawl and walk around barefoot. Conditioning your baby to the cold will strengthen baby's immune system and will prepare your child for snow, rain and cold. Let your baby's feet get use to cold and she wont get sick easily.
10. If you are trying to go green, less is more. Do not buy things that your baby does not need.
I would not recommend buying socks until your baby is walking. For babies that will be facing really cold weather conditions I would highly recommend buying/making hand-made 100% wool socks that will go over footed leggings or bodysuit.
P.S. Great-grand monther made these socks for our baby! An amazing, sweet and very useful gift! Thank you!
