Take Your Baby Outside

at 2 weeks old you should start taking your baby outside

We started taking our daughter for a walk two weeks after she was born. I delivered by the end March so the weather was already nice, but even if she was born in January I would still take her outside regardless of the season.

We started with 5 minutes outside, the next day we added 2 minutes and so on. By the time she was three weeks I was taking her for a walk twice a day 15 to 20  minutes at a time We gradually increased our time outside, up to almost 3 hours every day. I stayed in if it was raining, too hot (90F/32C or higher) or too windy. Not only your baby breathes fresh air and intakes vitamin D, but you are also getting your three hours of exercise a day! Great way to feel better emotionally as well slowly start getting back into shape.

Ideally you would like to walk your baby in the park, but if there are no parks in your neighborhood, find a green street with no traffic.
